Amazon Games Boss Says Company Will Develop Games for Switch 2

Christoph Hartmann, the boss of Amazon Games, has expressed his enthusiasm for developing games for the upcoming Switch 2. While speaking to IGN, Hartmann mentioned that Amazon Games is planning to create games for the new system and he is eagerly looking forward to its release. Despite his excitement, he also emphasized the importance of Nintendo taking the necessary time to perfect the console before its launch.

Hartmann stated that he would rather Nintendo wait an extra year to ensure that the Switch 2 is flawless, rather than rushing its release and facing potential issues that could lead to complaints from consumers. He highlighted the success of the original Switch and mentioned that he is willing to wait for a superior product. Additionally, he noted that most non-Nintendo developers have a diverse portfolio of platforms they develop for, indicating that the Switch is not the sole focus for many studios.

Nintendo is expected to announce the successor to the Switch before April 1, 2025. The gaming industry is anticipating the release of the Switch 2, as it could potentially help boost the industry in the upcoming year. With the success of the original Switch and the promising launch of titles like GTA VI in 2025, there is optimism surrounding the potential impact of the new console on the market.

In addition to working on games for the Switch 2, Amazon Games is currently involved in publishing the next Tomb Raider game and producing a new Lord of the Rings MMO. Hartmann’s background at 2K Games has provided him with valuable insights into the industry, and he has also addressed the role of artificial intelligence in game development. Despite the ongoing actor strike, Hartmann remains unfazed as Amazon Games focuses on creating innovative gaming experiences.

One of the recent highlights for Amazon Games was the announcement of a new title, King of Meat, during Gamescom. This new game adds to Amazon Games’ portfolio of upcoming projects and showcases their commitment to delivering diverse and engaging gaming experiences to players.

Christoph Hartmann’s comments shed light on Amazon Games’ plans for the future, particularly in relation to developing games for the highly anticipated Switch 2. As the industry prepares for new console releases and exciting game launches, the role of companies like Amazon Games in shaping the gaming landscape remains significant.
